About Studio Laloc

Founded and led by Lauren Lothrop Caron, Studio Laloc is a full-service interior and architectural design and furnishings firm, based in Seattle. Our projects include both renovations and new builds, where our work encompasses all phases of design and construction, from concept to completion.

We aim to create elevated, compelling experiences that illustrate the stories of our clients. Our projects demonstrate exceptional taste and an understanding of the subtleties between timeless design and forward thinking. We design spaces that are functional and comfortable, with a bit of modern formality layered in color, pattern and texture. We mix antiques with modern heirlooms. And most importantly, we focus on conveying details that reflect the personal sensibilities of our clients.

About Lauren

Inspired by her childhood home, an 1801 New England colonial where each room bursts with color, period furniture and her mother’s signature eccentric style, Lauren developed a fascination for interiors at an early age. Family vacations spent wandering house museums from ornate Newport mansions, to humble colonial cottages in Old Sturbridge Village deepened Lauren’s appreciation for design.

Lauren moved to New York City where she attended FIT and graduated with a degree in Visual Presentation and Exhibition Design. In her decade working in NYC, Lauren created and led imaginative and fantastical store presentation and window displays for renowned luxury brands including Tiffany & Co, Ralph Lauren and Bergdorf Goodman.

Today, as the founder and principal designer of Studio Laloc, Lauren focuses on full-scale renovations of historic homes and full-service interior design. Lauren now lives in Seattle with her husband and two rescue greyhounds Elsie de Woof and Margaux. As a dog mom, equestrian, and lifelong animal lover and advocate, Lauren is passionate about sustainable design and ethical materials.

About the Blog

Lauren began writing A Layered Life shortly after her move from the East coast of New York City, to the West coast. The purpose of the blog is an online journal for documenting the progress on the remodel of her personal projects, along with educational tidbits about design and inspiration, travel and overall musings. In 2018, Lauren and her husband purchased their home in Seattle, a 1916 craftsman bungalow in the Beacon Hill neighborhood. This home with its beautiful bones needed a major update and a bit of love. As they undertake the majority of the renovations on their own, Lauren has also been writing detailed documentation about the process. The sharing of these projects has garnered a great amount of exposure to Lauren’s work on instagram. The blog is where she is able to deeply dive into the creative processes, and provide specs and sources on the items they use throughout the renovation. Lauren’s finds her sweet spot to focus education in the field of design, as well as to inspire design enthusiasts to create more compelling and thoughtful interiors.
