High-end living on the Upper East Side

This floor-through flat is located on New York City’s Upper East Side in a historic pre-war building. The clients envisioned a sophisticated, classic New York apartment with subtle Art Deco influences, luxurious yet approachable, and suited to family life without feeling too precious. Working in collaboration with Mika Raja of Studio MRD, we created a bespoke interior that beautifully showcases the clients’ impressive art collection while offering comfort and ease for a busy family in the city.

Durable yet elegant textiles made from natural materials such as leather, mohair, linen, and cotton were used throughout on custom upholstery, pairing seamlessly with imported antiques and Murano glass lighting. Custom built-in bookshelves frame the family room sofa, complemented by swivel chairs that easily adjust for television viewing. In the children’s bedroom, custom twin trundle beds anchor a charming collection of vintage airplane prints, creating a space that is both playful and refined.

This project was featured in the Design House section of Homes & Gardens UK.
